YAY ARIEL SALERNO! Ariel Salerno, a chemistry teacher at Douglas S. Freeman High School, is today's Yay of the Day honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at Freeman!

Nominator Kanita Hodzic said,

"She creates a welcoming environment, that allows students new and old to be able to enter her classroom and feel like they belong. She takes time in her mornings to connect with students who come in to talk to her and creates a connection through doing fun daily games (like Minute Cryptic or Wordle) each morning before school start to make sure her students days are off to a good start. She always checks in on students if they seem off and always makes sure to make our days brighter while also teaching a class that is generally a difficult one on our schedules."

Nominator Sebastian Ulloa said,

"She’s always so funny, and she always helps students learn in their own way."
